Job Title: Intermediate Clinical Sciences Professional (0.8 FTE)

Job Summary:

The College of Nursing is currently seeking a 0.8 FTE Intermediate Clinical Sciences Professional. In this research position the primary duties will include overall project management of a research study in collaboration with the principal investigator (PI). The Intermediate Clinical Sciences Professionalwill be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the project. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and leading study-related meetings, coordinating with multiple remote study sites and investigators, communicating with external project funders, entering project data into various database systems for later analysis, developing and maintaining study operations protocols, record-keeping, procurement, document preparation, verification and archiving of data, arranging travel and meeting space for training and research activities, and study administration activities such as planning, scheduling, and invoicing for funded projects. Specifically, he/she/they will facilitate the recruitment of participants, data collection and management, coordinate planning and team meetings, prepare all project related correspondence, interim and final reports, maintain research files and data, procure study supplies, and coordinate all procurement requests.

Examples of Duties Performed:

  • Independently master study materials, including but not limited to protocols, informed consent forms, and all other essential study documents for assigned studies.
  • Independently perform study related processes, procedures, and assessments as defined in study protocol and in compliance with regulating bodies.
  • Assist investigators with creation and implementation of processes, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with potential participants expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities.
  • Obtain participants’ enrollment and demographic data, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in study.
  • Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required.
  • Schedule subject participation in research activities, coordinating availability of necessary space, and research support.
  • Collect, code, and analyze data obtained from research in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment for studies are in stock.

Additional Examples of Work Performed:

  • Routine telephone and e-mail contact to coordinate the activities of project staff at distant sites.
  • Coordinate teleconference meetings with project staff at distant sites.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and off-site meeting space for data collection and study team meetings.
  • Prepare study data or financial reports for university or external review requests or audits.
  • Provide regular reports to PI.
  • Assist with publication and presentation efforts by the PI.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • One (1) year of clinical research experience or related experience.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of clinical research or related experience.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. data management systems such as RedCap and/or Atlas.ti).
  • Prior knowledge of military systems.

  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to represent the University in a professional and positive manner.
  • Ability to collaborate as a member of a team and to work highly independently to meet competing demands.
  • Innovative problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive on challenges encountered in fluid, complex environment.
  • Knowledge of institutional and governmental research administration policies and procedures and ability to strictly follow IRB, FDA, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficient use of computer and relevant software and database applications, including REDCap, OnCore, Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to master new software programs.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $40,991.20 to $52,140.80 (calculated for 0.8 FTE).

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
