Job Summary:

Nature of Work:

The University of Colorado College of Nursing is seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) / Instructor in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track for a 0.75 FTE benefits-eligible position with its CU Center for Midwifery (CFM) faculty practice in Longmont, Colorado. This is a full scope position including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care. This position is clinically-based as a health care provider, and includes an instructor level, non-tenure clinical practice track appointment within the College of Nursing. Clinic Description:

The CU Center for Midwifery at Longmont is a private practice model that works collaboratively with the OB/GYN physicians on staff. We offer women and families many services including individualized care, alternative labor/birth options and water birth, with referrals to childbirth education, lactation services, and provider groups within the system and community. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care to women at an outpatient clinic in Longmont with inpatient services at Centura Longmont United Hospital. CFM believes that women benefit from personalized and comprehensive care that focuses on the patient while including the family in the plan of care. We serve women who desire an alternative labor and birth experience with a water birth and nitrous oxide option. The CNM will be part of a midwifery service that has a long and successful history within the University of Colorado system. The Longmont practice opened in 2017 and CNMs will be expected to actively participate in practice development and promotion.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Provide full scope care to the gynecologic, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum client
  • Provide care in the outpatient clinic, triage unit, and intrapartum unit
  • Utilize limited obstetric ultrasound skills in the outpatient and inpatient setting
  • Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in a minimum of 1 practice and/or College of Nursing committees.
  • Educate health care team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and actively participate in student evaluations.
  • Provide water birth option to low risk women
  • Participate in practice development, promotion and community outreach.
  • Active participation in health plan contracts.
  • Remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Clinical Instructor, Senior Clinical Instructor, Assistant Professor Clinical based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Minimum Qualifications - Instructor:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • 1 year experience at a CNM
  • Current AMCB certification
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.

Minimum Qualifications - Senior Instructor:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • 1 year experience at a CNM
  • Current AMCB certification
  • A minimum of one year full scope practice providing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Minimum QualificationsAssistant Professor:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
  • 1 year experience at a CNM
  • Current AMCB certification
  • A minimum of two years of full scope practice providing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well woman and gynecological care
  • Current RN, APN and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
    • Could be working toward CO clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA-Department of Regulatory Agencies. Must have Colorado licensures by date of hire.
  • Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to obtain current AMCB certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to provide full scope contraceptive services and counseling on abortion services.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current board certification as a CNM by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current DEA license within 18 months of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid NPI number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number by date of hire
  • Must be willing and able to complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be willing and able to actively participation in health plan contracts.
  • Must be willing and able to remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current, active DEA licensure
  • Experience in alternative labor/birth options
  • Experience as Surgical First Assistant for C-sections

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/CNM,

$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /CNM

$95,683 - $105,252 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice /CNM

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
