Structure

The Associate Director of Prospect Development, Academic Medicine is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports to the Executive Director of Prospect Development.

Focus

The Associate Director of Prospect Development is a key member of the team that focuses on optimizing prospective donor pools and pipelines, including grateful patient, and providing the strategic insights required to effectively manage UCF’s relationship with its constituents.

The Associate Director of Prospect Development oversees the day-to-day management of the prospect development program for UC Health and the Academic Health colleges. They will ensure effective implementation of a full suite of prospect management, portfolio analysis and review, pipeline management, and prospect research services for the Academic Health Colleges and UC Health Grateful Patient.

Specific Duties

  • Lead the critical support efforts in the creation, management, maintenance, and integrity of prospect data.
  • Develop strong partnerships with front-line fundraisers and other partners across the organization to ensure the prospect development needs of UC Health and the Academic Health colleges are met.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to ensure the comprehensive management of the grateful patient pipeline.
  • Collaborate with a team of prospect development liaisons to meet the needs of the UC Health and Academic Health fundraising initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives, and will help build capacity and implement new ways of doing business for the prospect development program.
  • Act as lead on the planning and execution of the prospect development program for UC Health and the Academic Health colleges.
  • Provide oversight of and, as needed, provide direct data, system, and policy support to unit, development officers, and other university staff to ensure timely and accurate management of prospect data.
  • Lead and oversee prospect development operational functions including but not limited to data analysis and visualization, system enhancements, and data maintenance
  • Provide formal and informal training on prospect development processes and procedures to development officers and other UCF staff
  • Compile information utilizing various research profile formats in a consistent and professional manner, to best suit the needs of our individual research consumers.
  • Provide specific leadership for profiles and briefings that support the UC and UCF Presidents.
  • Proactively initiate special projects across the spectrum of prospect development services
  • Serve as part of the prospect development leadership group, helping to identify strategic objectives and goals for the team
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience, or advanced degree with 2-3 years of experience
  • Background in development at a large, public higher education institution is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with HIPAA, an Academic Medical Center, or a Grateful Patient program is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of prospect development principles, practices and the tools of the trade.
  • Client-focused, service-oriented, collaborative, creative, resourceful, ethical and good natured, with solid interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.
  • High level of integrity when collecting sensitive information about donors & prospects.
  • Strong experience leveraging information resources. A keen understanding of available resources and the ability to retrieve information.
  • An ability to connect with people to collect relevant, meaningful information.
  • Skills to support today’s business expectations – including excellent analytical skills and the ability to identify, understand and interpret financial and other information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to remain flexible to meet constantly changing and sometimes opposing demands, while continuing to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to model positive attitude and solid productivity in evolving work climate.
  • Exceptional writing, and the ability to compose concise, focused research documents with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Working knowledge of online databases, Microsoft Word, Excel and other research tools.
  • Experience with a fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge or Blackbaud CRM.
  • A commitment to the department’s values of: curiosity, partnership, a can do attitude, and courageousness.
  • Knowledge of the University of Cincinnati is preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands

This position is considered to have sedentary work. Exerting up to 10lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position requires:

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, this position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
