Structure

The Associate Director of Development, Colleges is an exempt (salaried) position employed by the University of Cincinnati Foundation (UCF) and reports to the Director of Development, Colleges - Medicine.

Focus

The Associate Director of Development, Colleges - Medicine, supports the College of Medicine (CoM) and is responsible for assisting the Executive Director of Development for Colleges and the Director of Development, Colleges in fundraising and strategic planning. Heavy emphasis will be placed on developing relationships with a large alumni network, high-net-worth individuals, and community partners in an effort to secure funding to support the Foundation’s mission.

Specific Duties

  • Develop and implement plans for achieving projected dollar goals for assigned projects each year.
  • Devise and execute strategies for qualifying and cultivating assigned prospects for special, major and deferred gifts through in-person solicitations.
  • Build and qualify viable prospect lists for all projects, utilizing resources of UCFs Office of Prospect Research and through consultation with the appropriate CoM faculty, volunteers, and UCF staff.
  • Maintain an active schedule of personal visits with prospects.
  • Ensure appropriate stewardship of gifts and donors.
  • Maintain donor files and reports related to UCF and the College of Medicine.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of fundraising experience, or advanced degree with 2-3 years of fundraising experience preferably in a medical or healthcare.
  • Understanding of basic scientific principles or capacity to learn such concepts.
  • Candidates should possess strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Record of successful gift solicitation and closure.
  • Ability to interact favorably with a diverse group of individuals and to foster strong, productive relationships.
  • Willingness to travel and attend evening and weekend activities as needed. Valid driver’s license required for travel.
  • A commitment to and passion for the role of development in advancing the mission of the University of Cincinnati and UC Health.

Physical Demands

This position is considered to have sedentary work. Exerting up to 10lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position requires:

  • Finger use
  • Talking
  • Hearing
  • Repetitive motion of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, this position is subject to outside environmental conditions and indoor conditions.
