University of California San Francisco is Hiring a Registered Nurse, Per Diem - Cancer Center San Mateo Near San Mateo, CA

The Outpatient Oncology Clinical Nurse II serves in a leadership role and delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult Oncology outpatient population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. At this operational level, the nurse proactively embraces the Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of Oncology Nursing practice to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization This is a Hybrid position that include and not limited to the following role: Infusion nurses’ role. Practice nurses’ role and Quick treatment role, Outpatient Procedure role, contributing to the workflow and ability to float to both Cancer Centers.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. This includes ability to trained two (2) days a week in an ambulatory outpatient procedure area at UCSF locations. Floating to UCSF locations on the Peninsula
  • Minimum two (2) year of recent RN Medical Oncology Nursing experience or recent Surgical Oncology nursing experience
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of total recent RN experience
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience in outpatient infusion oncology nursing, procedure nursing and willing to trained in Practice Nurses role
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • OCN Certification or other relevant specialty certification
  • Three (3) years or more of recent Medical Oncology experience
  • Three (3) years or more of recent Surgical Oncology experience
  • One (1) year of Telephone Triage nursing experience
  • BSN
  • One year of procedural nurse experience

License/Certification

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Current American Heart Association CPR card
  • Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification
