University of California San Francisco is Hiring a Clinical Scheduler Near San Francisco, CA

The clinical scheduler will use skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative professional to manage, plan and create the physician clinical schedules for all Department of Emergency Medicine clinical sites. DEM clinical schedules consist of direct management (preparing, planning, reviewing, updating and communicating) of all clinical physician schedules and call schedules. As part of managing the clinical schedules, the clinical scheduler is responsible for providing reports and staffing projections, which directly inform DEM’s recruitment and staffing strategy, together with determining how well our current available staffing is able to cover planned/unplanned absences, time off requests, and leaves. Performs short- and long-term planning for staffing DEM emergency departments in partnership with faculty schedulers and DEM leadership.

Department Description

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) provides emergency medical care to over 175,000 patients annually at the UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals at Mission Bay and Oakland and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. DEM administrative and research staff supports the work of 87 full-time and 70 attending physicians, a residency program, fellowship programs and over 300 house staff and students each year. Our vision is to be the leader in compassionate, innovative and equitable emergency care for all people at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and at least 3 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience / training
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service
  • Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and / or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time management skill
  • Ability to establish positive and effective relationships with diverse individuals
  • Self-directed, strong initiative, and flexibility to work independently as well as within a team
  • Ability to multi-task and organize information. Experience in and ability to independently prioritize, organize, make judgments, and coordinate multiple types of tasks, while under the pressure of seemingly conflicting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work accurately and independently, and to function effectively under the stress of competing priorities. Much of the work is self-directed, and the individual must be able to identify when to seek supervisor’s guidance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management
