Job Summary
Reporting to the School of Nursing's Grants Manager, the Research Services Administrator is a member of a team of research analysts supporting the research portfolio of the School of Nursing faculty in four academic departments and an Organized Research Unit (ORU). Collectively, the team manages a portfolio of 170 awards totalling approximately $22M of sponsored and intramural awards for approximately 80 PI's/faculty. The Research Services Administrator is expected to manage a portfolio of about 30 grants for 10 to 15 PI's.The Research Services Administrator (RSA) provides analytical and financial support in contract and grants administration including post-award fund management, financial reporting to agencies, and closeout activities for federal, state, local, and private sponsors. reviews and guides others in the review of financial and administrative management requirements of research contract and grant proposals, awards, and / or transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies. Works independently to assess complex grant, contract and subcontract transactions where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. May be eligible for delegated signature authority. This position reviews and signs transactions for less experienced staff. May serve as a technical specialist in a particular area, such as federal contracts, state contracts, subcontracts or information systems. They will responsible for activities associated with forecasting, planning, and managing of research portfolios by performing the following:* Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently manage awards in compliance with the University and institutional research sponsor policies, regulations, terms and conditions. Forecasts and plans financial activity for awards; performs financial transactions and maintains contract and grant records. Administers faculty and staff pay plans, monitors financial activity of all research awards and implement internal audit controls.* Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and / or multiple sub awards. Typically works on complex proposals such as grants / contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators and multiple subawards.* Collects and reports financial and key project personnel data required by NIH agencies.* Administers subcontracts and coordinates with collaborating institutions and their project investigators' team.* Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official.* Support faculty through proposal initiatives that are not under the purview of the campus Research Management Services (RMS) unit.The Research Services Administrator will serve as the faculty's single point of contact for research financial issues and ensures that faculty are provided with high quality, efficient, responsive, and responsible post-award research administration services.Responsible for the standardization of services to faculty and development of procedures and on-going training of Grants Team Staff and new PIs on Grants Management. This position requires the ability to provide leadership and as a subject matter expert (SME), direction to key functions and solutions to a broad range of complex fiscal administrative functions. This position will conceptualize and develop new and innovative techniques that will continue the success of the programs. Will advise the Grants Manager, Chairs, Co-Chairs, Principal Investigators, Associate Dean for Research, and various ad hoc committees on development of new proposals, extramural funding issues, and other financial matters
