University of California - Los Angeles Health is Hiring a Physician Assistant - Radiation Oncology Near Los Angeles, CA

DescriptionThe Radiation Oncology (Head & Neck Service) PA functions in an interdependent provider who is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior, and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings. In collaboration with the supervising physician, attending physicians, fellows, and residents, the PA is responsible for providing independent clinical assessment and patient care management services for patients in the Radiation Oncology Department. The PA will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. The PA also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, tumor boards, and provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals. Document services rendered. This position is primarily based in Westwood, but may be required to work in Santa Monica and other community sites as needed.Salary range: $72.77- $97.92/hourly
Qualifications* Current CA Licensure as Physician Assistant and National Board Certification as PA - required* Master's in PA program -required* Current CPR/BCLS/ACLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross- required* Medical Oncology or Radiation Oncology experience- preferred. 6 months or greater PA experience in inpatient or outpatient setting- strongly preferred.* Ability to independently prioritize work with minimal direct supervision-required* Ability to work with a wide variety of individuals in many complex settings-required* Skills and abilities to perform history and physical examinations of radiation oncology patients-required* Skills and abilities to perform accurate assessment and evaluation of radiation oncology patients-required* Skills and abilities to develop and implement appropriate treatment plans under established protocols and physician supervision-required* Ability to triage patients accurately after evaluating their vital signs, symptoms, findings, etc-required* Ability to intervene to deal with patient problems when physicians are not immediately available-required* Ability to write clearly and distinctly so as to accurately and concisely communicate using the medical record or business correspondence-required* Ability to use electronic medical record (EHR)/EPIC/CareConnect to obtain pertinent patient information-required* Ability to work independently with limited supervision in the outpatient environment while performing a variety of tasks-required* Ability to use computer for standard word processing, spreadsheet and database functions in order to develop communications and to store necessary patient data.-required* Knowledge and ability to organize, coordinate, and follow complex clinical regimens-required* Skill in communicating and translating medical information to patients and their families, including giving patients and families an understanding of their medical condition and what they might expect in the future-required* Knowledge and proficiency of the English language sufficient to read medical reports and records with comprehension and to prepare reports and correspondence-required* Ability to maintain confidentiality-required* Ability to interact effectively and communicate accurately with patients, colleagues and referring physicians-required* Skill in working as part of a team and collaborating with colleagues-required* Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload and frequent interruption-required* Skill in prioritizing assignment to complete work in a timely and accurate manner-required* Knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures related to functions and responsibilities of the position
