University of California - Los Angeles Health is Hiring a Fund Manager - Biological Chemistry Near Los Angeles, CA

DescriptionUnder the general direction of the CAO and Senior Fund Managers, this position will manage all administrative and financial support functions for the department of Biological Chemistry, as well as extramural funds including state funds, opportunity funds, sales and service funds, the Basic Science Compensation Plan, Dean's Office funds, funds from other university units, and gift and endowment funds. The Fund Manager will be responsible for all fund activities from designated accounts from inception to closure and ensuring that financial activities and records do not deviate from approved policy and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:* Verify funds awarded, compare/adjust against proposed budget, confirm that account(s) have been set up.* Ensure appropriation of funds to internal and/or external collaborators* Administer grants for the life of the award in accordance with all funding agency and University policies and guidelines.* Coordinate, prepare and submit all sponsor reports, additional funding requests and extensions according to agency requirements and deadlines.* Verify timely receipt of funds throughout life of award.* Manage award close outs in accordance with all requirements.* Maintain all required documentation in accordance with agency/university retention standards.* Create monthly financial reports, incorporating general ledger and payroll ledger data, and thoroughly reconcile reports verifying appropriateness of all expenses.* Develop cost projections.Salary Range: $28.20 - $60.57 hourly
QualificationsRequired:* 1 years of Financial, clerical or administrative experience* 1 years of Research administration experience* Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate information in a timely, professional manner and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, external collaborators and administration and to work as a member of a team.* Ability to set priorities and complete ongoing tasks with competing deadlines, with frequent interruptions, to meet the programmatic and financial needs of PIs and the department, while complying with University and funding agency policies and regulations. * Analytical skills to assess financial information, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions, make recommendations, and initiate corrective actions.* Close attention to detail to ensure accuracy in a fast-paced, fluctuating workload environment.* Organization skills to create and maintain administrative and financial files effectively as well as independently balance the various tasks to ensure deadlines are met.* Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft suite software, especially Excel, to perform daily tasks efficiently and accurately.* Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complicated financial scenarios.* Knowledge of and experience working with a variety of external sponsors: federal and state sponsors, private foundations, industry sponsors, etc.* Working knowledge of various financial concepts, research administration policies and procedures, and contract and grant funding agency guidelines.
