University of California- Davis Health is Hiring a Clinical Nurse II (RN) - CVOR (CLIN NURSE 2) Near Sacramento, CA

Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery is an advanced specialty within Perioperative Services that provides invasive and complex procedures for patients with serious cardiovascular conditions. Cardiovascular Nurses (CVOR nurses) are key members of the cardiac team who circulate and scrub alongside the surgeon and other cardiac team members to provide optimal safe patient care. The CVOR nurse coordinates intraoperative patient care by ensuring that necessary equipment, sterile instrumentation, medications and technology are available to the team while continuously monitoring for quality during surgery with patient safety as the highest priority.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years recent CVOR RN circulating a broad range of Cardio/Thoracic surgical work experience.
  • Ability and Skill to scrub a broad range of Cardio/Thoracic surgical procedures within 6 months of hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Possession of current California RN License.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR or UCDH-issued CPR Certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Knowledge of current trends in nursing.
  • Commitment to excellence in patient care.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability and professionalism.
  • Adapts to change in a positive, professional and productive manner.
  • Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • CNOR within 6 months of hire.
  • Recent work experience scrubbing CVOR procedures.

Department Description

  • The Main Operating Room has 24 operating rooms, Children's Surgery Center has 6 operating rooms and Same Day Surgery Center has 4 operating rooms. The majority of the surgical procedures performed tend to be complex. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, patient care is provided to a wide range of surgical services including: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Burn, Trauma, Gyn, Urology, Pediatrics, Transplant, and General Surgery.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients and stand on feet over extended periods.
  • Ability to work/stand for long periods of time in a close environment with others.

Special Requirements

  • Reference report reflect an overall meets or exceeds rating.
  • Ability to work overtime, float to other areas and work weekends and holidays.
  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
