Departmental Overview
The Information Systems Analyst uses technical expertise to develop new and maintain existing moderately complex software applications for the Marvell Nanofabrication Laboratory. This position uses technical expertise to install, upgrade, and to maintain Windows based servers and desktop for this recharge unit.
NanoLab infrastructure includes significant computer monitoring and control systems. Equipment, utilities and processes are all tracked and integrated via custom developed database reporting systems. All IT staff are required to become fluent with monitoring their assigned systems, and report their activities using these custom operating systems. As an in house developed and maintained system, these programs are under constant review and improvement. IT staff are also expected to make recommendations to improve the efficiency and capability of these programs to facilitate their work assignments.

Responsibilities
40% Under general supervision, analyzes existing programs or works to formulate logic for moderately complex new systems, devises logic procedures, prepares flowcharting, performs coding, data analysis, and tests/debugs programs. Designs, develops, modifies, debugs and evaluates basic programs for functional areas by applying professional application programming concepts. Designs and uses basic relational databases.
30% Under general supervision, implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Supports lab's Windows servers, staff windows desktops and shared windows terminals in the lab. Supports and maintains printers and plotters.
10% Maintains backups of Windows servers and computers connected to the lab equipment.
10% Maintain security configurations of Window's server and desktops.
5% Prepares programming documentation.
5% Work is subject to review by a more senior level.
Required Qualifications
Working knowledge of engineering principles and methods in order to independently perform professional design work of limited scope and complexity.
Working knowledge necessary to begin independent application of principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.
Organizational abilities and decision-making to prioritize work assignments.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers.
Knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Linux
Must have knowledge relating to the design and development of application programs.
Requires knowledge of application programming languages (Java)
Requires basic knowledge of SQL
Requires skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation.
  • Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
