The University Health Services, Tang Center works to promote a campus that actively cultivates better health and wellbeing. UHS provides comprehensive medical, mental health, insurance and health promotion services to all Berkeley students, and a variety of health programs for faculty and staff. In addition, UHS encourages and expands wellness opportunities at multiple levels of campus policy, infrastructure, institutional practices, and individual choice.

Responsibilities
Alcohol and other Drugs: Responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of campus infrastructure that aims to reduce and eliminate risks and consequences of alcohol and other drug use. Direct, initiate, design and deliver comprehensive, socioculturally relevant, health promotion initiatives with key campus partners. Manage and create or identify evidence-based primary prevention and awareness strategies that have broad campus-wide impact; fostering a multidisciplinary, prevention, and community model that focuses on creating collaborative partnerships throughout the campus.
Develops outreach programs and works with community leaders. Coordination of environmental prevention of alcohol-related problems; coordinates PartySafe@Cal program and organization of community outreach for alcohol-related issues. Ensure all education initiatives meet minimum federal, state, and UC system requirements to educate the UC Berkeley community. Regularly lead evaluation and analysis to determine effective and meaningful approaches, trends, resources, and opportunities.
Partner with community groups, including neighborhood groups, and organizations on prevention and initiatives. Create opportunities for students to positively and productively contribute on-campus and in the surrounding region.
Collective Impact : Assist the Director in creating and sustaining the five conditions that contribute to collective impact success (Kania & Kramer, 2011), which include (a) generating a common agenda and common understanding of the problem and the proposed solutions; (2) defining shared measurement systems and reaching agreement on how success will be measured and reported; (3) delineating mutually reinforcing activities, where each partner undertake specific initiatives in which they have expertise or strengths, and coordinates them with other partners; (4) engaging in continuous communication so as to build and sustain trust as well as enable accountability; and (5) providing a backbone support organization to coordinate structured decision-making processes, as well as plan, manage and support initiatives through ongoing facilitation, logical and administrative support, and technical assistance.
Team and Program Leadership : Lead and participate in unit, departmental, and divisional initiatives to address equity, team building, mentorship, professional development and emerging issues.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
3-5 or more years providing effective alcohol and other drug prevention services on a college campus or in an educational setting and expert and comprehensive knowledge of health promotion and/or related education programs. Experience with social change and popular education theories and strategies. Experience with and knowledge of public health theories and approaches to prevention.
Strong familiarity with utilizing "health in all policies" and "collective impact" strategies in designing, creating, partnering on, and assessing prevention strategies.
3-5 or more years of experience with program assessment and evaluation, including developing key performance indicators, metrics, and data collection/analysis systems. Experience with leading a unit team on program evaluation priorities.
Experience with program development, implementation, and management in higher education. Experience developing services and programs for historically underrepresented and underserved communities Experience articulating the intersections of gender, sexual orientation, race, class, ethnicity, ability and other identities.
Advanced communication (written, verbal, etc.) skills to prepare and deliver presentations, written reports, correspondence, proposals, program assessments, email and other materials for a variety of audiences ensuring compliance with departmental and university guidelines, practices and principles.
Analytical and intuitive skills to anticipate and identify concerns, issues and problems; to determine options for actions; and to initiate creative and timely responses. Expert skills associated with identifying organizational needs, program development and implementation. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to community needs through the development, implementation and delivery of comprehensive health-related programs.
Demonstrated ability and political acumen to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Interpersonal skills and political acumen to work effectively within and outside of the university system in developing relationships and programs to address programmatic issues and needs. Experience cultivating and sustaining ongoing collaborative relationships with a wide array of constituents (staff, faculty, students, community members, and with campus and community organizations) in order to accomplish goals. Demonstrated experience managing complex and difficult decisions when university policy or procedure is ambiguous.
Demonstrated experience advising, supporting and working with people from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socio-economic, sexual orientation, and gender identities and backgrounds in a multicultural college environment. Broad knowledge of social justice and multicultural competence theories, concepts and practices.
Organizational and planning skills to achieve progress on multiple, simultaneous projects, to meet deadlines and to maintain a high level of productivity in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Interpersonal communication skills, including conflict management, assertiveness, consensus/team building, group facilitation, and cultural awareness and sensitivity. Comprehension of group dynamics, facilitation of group participation, and problem solving. Ability to use listening skills and communication to involve others.

Advanced degree preferred.
Salary & Benefits
Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $74,300-$90,000. This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position and eligible for full UC Benefits. This position is primarily an on-site role with possibility for some remote work (up to 40%).
