The Student Affairs Coordinator plays an integral role in the life of the law school, working closely with law students to support and manage all aspects of nearly 30 active law student organizations as they develop programming designed to foster professional development and job connections. The Coordinator is heavily involved in all aspects of student org and Student Affairs expenses, including purchasing goods and services, booking travel, reimbursements, and reconciliation of card transactions. The Coordinator serves as a first point of contact for student organization officers and their faculty advisors. The Coordinator establishes best practices and procedures that align with university requirements and helps students with logistics for key events, assisting with Event Management System room reservations and coordination of vendors for both on and off campus functions. The Coordinator will be responsible for creating law school-sponsored events that help build community within the student body and provide opportunities for classmates to engage in positive ways with one another outside of the classroom. As a member of the law school’s Office of Academic Affairs, the Coordinator will serve as a member of the exam team for both midterm and final exams.

Key Responsibilities:
Law Student Organization Management
Provide all administrative management of law student organizations, including all expense-related transactions, facilitating student organization officer training; registration of new student organizations and officers; and oversight of student organization management software (CampusGroups).
Responsible for fiscal oversight and management of the allocation process, awarding funds to student organizations each summer. Oversee student organization budget submission process and train leaders on event submissions, budget requests, and student organization management. Consider new ways to present leadership development opportunities for student leaders.
Provide professional and operational development for student organization officers. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise any necessary student staff. Assist with student org travel booking and reimbursements.
Develop and evaluate effective institutional policies relating to food and alcohol for law student organizations. Serve as liaison to university student affairs office to promote coordination in areas of shared responsibility and oversight.
Event Planning
Generate ideas for, and coordinate planning of, annual law school events. Manage budget and timelines for each event and coordinate staffing and communications strategies. Responsible for accounts payable functions via credit card. Work with venue and other vendors as needed and conform with university procurement requirements.
Assist student organizations in the planning and execution of their signature events. Book spaces in the law school for organizations utilizing the University’s Event Management System.
Assist students in taking advantage of leadership opportunities including travel and registration for regional and national conferences. Serve as a liaison between students, the law school and university administration, designated venue and contracted vendors.
Moot Court, Mock Trial, Law Publication Administration
In collaboration with the Manager for Evening and Advocacy Success, serve as staff liaison for students involved with the law school’s moot court team, mock trial team, and law journals to facilitate their participation in competitions and symposia. Provide the groups with assistance for logistics including registration fees, travel arrangements, room reservations, and vendors. Handle all reimbursements for students.
Communications
Create marketing and promotional flyers for Student Affairs events and assist students in generating marketing materials for their own student organization events. Manage the law school’s Current Students Facebook page and CampusGroups student organization platforms. Coordinate spirit shop sales in the fall and spring semesters for current students, faculty, staff, and alums with law school apparel.
Exam Administration
Participate as member of Exam administration team for both midterm and final exams. Assist with other exam-related activities. Attain and maintain working knowledge of exam software.
Required Education and Experience
Education: Baccalaureate Degree
Experience: Three years of experience in a law-related field, higher education administration, bookkeeping, or project management.
Preferred Education and Experience
Education: Master’s Degree or Juris Doctor
Experience: Familiarity with systems software such as PeopleSoft, Exam Soft, Constant Contact, Workday, and CampusGroups
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to bring a positive attitude to a high-paced student affairs team while maintaining a customer-service mindset for interactions with the ~750 law students, as well as faculty and staff members.
Proficiency in all applications relating to Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Must have excellent organizational skills and experience in program management. Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and work under pressure. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Discretion and judgment in dealing with students and confidential information.
