Summary of Job Duties:The Call Center operator answers all incoming calls at the main switchboard using a computerized telephony integration system. This person will access databases within the system to provide information to callers, staff and physicians. The employee will also provide service for patients needing to access the UAMS Specialty Pharmacy and will notify appropriate staff of emergency situations. Develop skills and knowledge of UAMS physician services, provide hospital directions, promotional activities, current advertising topics and knowledge of services made available to public.Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED plus 2 years customer service and administrative experience.
  • Telephone experience in a call center or medical setting desired.
  • Experience with computerized telephone integration system a plus.
  • Must have computer/basic keyboard skills, telephone etiquette skills, basic knowledge of office machines.

Additional Information:
  • Communicates on a daily basis to department management to advise of any incident or unusual occurrence while on duty. Performs basic clerical and office work as required.
  • Performs hospital-campus wide overhead and other announcements as needed. Provides after-hours answering services following established protocols and processes.
  • Assists callers appropriately by listening, clarifying requests, and accurately placing calls for patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. Provides professional and courteous service to both internal and external callers. Manages heavy daily call volume by utilizing multi-tasking skills and demonstrates the ability to fully operate the basic Mitel phone systems, including specialized directories and headsets.
  • Assists in maintaining the online UAMS call schedule. Serves as a liaison for outside Pharmacies and Home Health Nurses who need assistance with prescription clarification, refills, and/or medical orders.
