Department: Student Assistance and Transition Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Customer Service Specialist will serve as the main customer service representative for the ASK Desk on the second floor of the Donaldson Student Services Center. This position will serve as the welcoming, knowledgeable contact for guests- both current and prospective UA Little Rock students and their families as well as employees and community members visiting the building. The position reports directly to the Director of the Trojan Transition and Assistance Center and is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications: Required Education and/or Experience: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in business management, or a related field; plus one year of experience in a specialized or a related field applicable to work performed. OTHER JOB-RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS Preferred Education and/or Experience: Experience working in a university setting and customer service or front desk experience; Knowledge of Workday, Slate, Qless, preferred. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Provide excellent customer service for all UA Little Rock constituents by meeting and exceeding visitors' expectations; Make personal introductions to other campus resources via telephone or with student escort, when possible, to provide excellence in the total customer experience; During periods of high volume, provide campus-wide referral information by providing details on locations and contact information; Report customer volume and customer satisfaction inventories; Manage the campus switchboard, always striving to connect the customer to a person before ending the call; Assist in managing student and/or extra labor to ensure seamless coverage of the Ask Desk in conjunction with the supervisor Answer all ASK Desk and New Student emails Assist in training all students and/or extra labor in customer service excellence and campus administrative structure based on departmental training program Collaborate on New Student Orientation event planning, execution, and special project tasks; Serve in place of the Assistant Director as needed; Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to execute excellent customer service to serve clients and the campus community; Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally, including excellent listening skills; Knowledge and experience with office administration, reception, and customer relations; Ability to develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures; Independent worker and a team player; Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; Ability to work evenings and weekends.
