University of Alaska - External Careers is Hiring an Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator Near Fairbanks, AK

The School of Education (SOE) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), seeks an exceptional candidate based in Fairbanks as an academic advisor. The UAF School of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP).
Are you a motivated, self-managing individual who wants to help recruit, advise, and support Alaska’s next generation of K12 educators? Do you want to use your people skills to support both traditional and non-traditional students on their educational journeys? We would love for you to join us at the University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Education. We seek an enthusiastic, student-success-oriented candidate based in Fairbanks to serve as an education program academic advisor and program coordinator. The UAF School of Education is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP).
We’re looking for a candidate who is deeply committed to working with students to put them on a pathway to degree completion and academic success. Our future co-worker would enjoy working collaboratively in a team with faculty and staff members in the School of Education and across UAF, and would be able to quickly gain the skills and understanding necessary to utilize multiple platforms to support their advising and administrative roles. We’re also looking for someone who can enthusiastically recruit new students to become educators through UAF’s high quality teacher preparation pathways.

Our ideal candidate will have previous or current experience working in higher education OR college experience as a student in a teacher education program. They will be familiar with program advising processes, particularly in higher education, or possess the ability to learn those processes expeditiously. 

Minimum Qualifications:

The education or training requirements for the position include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, and relevant academic experience in a college environment or other schools.

Position Details:

This is a Grade 79, full time, 12 month position, located in Fairbanks, Alaska. The job allows for 1 or 2 work from home days per week, with an approved work modality plan in place in accordance with UA regulations, and a reduced time contract will be considered (between 10.5-12 months). This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
