Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: The Interior Designer provides design services on construction and renovation interior design projects that range in size and complexity. Provides management services as the owners' representation for tasks such as programming, directing, and tracking of the design status and design review management, schedule oversight, financial standing, and quality performance for projects assigned. Provides support during the initial programming and design stages to maintain project scope and budget. Maintains open communications with the end users. May provide direction to other interior designers or students.

Additional Department Summary: The Interior Designer produces detailed working drawings for millwork designs in the form of sections/details, finish schedules, RCP's, and floor pattern plans. Collaborates with Architectural partners and other design professionals. Procures and installs large quantities of furniture. Maintains project established budgets. Coordinates Interior Design document closeouts and ensures project archival.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in interior design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) institution and two (2) years of commercial interior design experience; OR master's degree in interior design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) institution and some commercial interior design experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of building codes, construction regulations and accessibility design. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or ReVIT (or other industry accepted software) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Expertise in interior finishes and relevant performance standards. Basic understanding of commercial furniture. Ability to provide furniture drawings that reflect compliance with codes such as ADA and life safety. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on projects where the applicant made significant design contribution to the project and contributed to the development and management of the project. Work experience within a University environment. National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification.
