Job Description
The School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications and nominations for a full-time Assistant Dean for Clinical and Community Programs. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Clinical and Global Partnerships and is responsible for facilitating the development of clinical partnerships that support the needs of the School of Nursing programs.
Candidates for this faculty position should have demonstrated leadership/administrative experience in an academic setting with clinical partnerships, and in nursing education regulatory, accreditation, certification, and credentialing requirements. A doctorate in nursing or a related field is required. Candidates must hold an unencumbered registered nurse license in the state of Alabama or be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama. Faculty may elect different degrees of emphasis on the teaching, service and scholarship components of the faculty role. Rank, tenure, and salary are competitive and commensurate with professional background and experience. This is not a remote position.
The UAB School of Nursing’s legacy of leadership is focused on the integration of research, education, and clinical practice and evidenced in more than 22,000 alumni serving as expert clinicians, executive nurse leaders, deans and directors of nursing programs, nurse scientists, advanced practice registered nurses, and other professional leaders. The School is also home to state-of-the-art nursing simulation and skills laboratories with some of the most current technology in health care, providing interdisciplinary students, and faculty, hands-on clinical learning experiences to enhance skills development, teamwork, communication, critical thinking and clinical judgment.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctorate in nursing or a related field

  • Successful demonstrated leadership/administrative experience in nursing education regulatory, accreditation, certification, and credentialing requirements
  • Evidence of leadership and expert knowledge as it relates to healthcare systems, clinical practice settings, and their influence on School of Nursing program implementation and outcomes
  • Comprehensive clinical skills
  • Successful grant writing and program management experience
