All applications will be considered, but priority will be given to those with dynamic research programs focused on brain health and disease across the lifespan. Areas of focus include: Traumatic Brain Injury/Spinal Cord Injury, Neuro-oncology, Neurodevelopment, Autism and Intellectual Disorders, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Aging and Cognition, Neuroinfectious Diseases, Microbiome (Gut-Brain Axis), Stroke, Glaucoma and Retinal Diseases, Addiction, Neurorecovery and Neurorestoration, Neuroimmunology, Neuroimaging, Pain, and Neurogenetics.
Driven by an intensely collaborative and entrepreneurial character, UAB is one of the leading economic engines of the State, with a nearly $4 billion budget and a statewide economic impact exceeding $12.1 billion annually. With nearly 1,700 faculty and almost 1,200 medical and graduate students, the UAB HSOM ranks 26th nationally in federal research funding and in the top 15 for all public institutions. Total research expenditures at UAB exceeded $715 million in 2022.
Successful applicants will join one of the strongest neuroscience environments in the country. The UAB Comprehensive Neuroscience Center (CNC) has more than 450 neuroscience research faculty, clinicians, staff, students & trainees representing 32 UAB departments across 9 UAB schools and spanning a diverse range of neuroscience research areas.
