The Manager of Community Fundraising Programming for Houston Public Media (HPM) manages programming strategies for on air and digital fundraising for all multi-media platforms as well as supporting and growing prospects list for the Chief Development Officer's (CDO) major gifts portfolio. Ensures that all programming activities are conducted within the parameters of station mission and purpose. Makes programming decisions and adjustments according to public response to fundraising, and internal initiative analytics.
Bachelors and 3 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: College degree in Marketing, Public Relations or Communication. Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: An additional five (5) years of direct job experience. Will Consider: 18 hours of course work in a MBA program in conjunction with three (3) or more years of direct job experience.

1. Lead the implementation of the annual membership operating plan and achieve annual goals in revenue, member acquisition and retention, sustainer growth and conversion. This includes the vehicle donation program, employee matching program, plus campaigns throughout the year- End of Fiscal Year Campaign, End of Calendar Year Campaign, Giving Tuesday Campaign, etc
2. Responsible for creating and leading the strategy of Houston Public Media's 2 radio fundraising campaigns, and 4 TV fundraising campaigns with revenue, member count, and member retention goals. This includes creating strategic messaging plans, selecting programs and premiums, and creating goals for each campaign.
3. Manage the monthly Radio & TV spot schedule, including writing scripts for fundraising spots that will air throughout the month. Research is required to identify what area of revenue needs to be focused on. This also includes working with production team to record the radio and TV spots, then working with traffic team to get spots on-air
4. Use data analytics to track donor giving patterns, identify trends, and tailor fundraising appeals, language and campaigns to specific donor segments.
5. Coordinate fundraising efforts with the marketing and communications teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all fundraising materials and campaigns.
6. Manage, provide guidance and support to direct report, Digital Fundraising Specialist. Conduct training sessions to enhance staff skills in fundraising strategies.
7. Keep abreast of trends and best practices in fundraising for public media organizations. Attend conferences, workshops, and networking events to stay informed about new fundraising techniques and technologies.
8. Work and meet regularly with 3rd party vendors that work on HPMs behalf- and external departments within HPM, such as programming, production, marketing, etc.
9. Achieve revenue and member growth targets by maximizing effectiveness and efficiency of on-air fund drives, digital fundraising campaigns, direct mail, and new programs implemented.
10. Work closely with Director of Membership to ensure annual giving program is effective, and to plan for future campaign dates and strategies.
11. Performs other job-related duties as required.
