University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center is part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Case Comprehensive Cancer Center at Case Western Reserve University, one of 50 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country.

The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.

Responsibilities include:

1. Direct patient care delivery (includes ADLs, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)
2. Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
3. Participation in quality improvement process
4. Involved in learning and self-improvement
5. Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers

Current NA II opportunities exist across UH Seidman Cancer Center including:

Ambulatory Outpatient Float Pool

• Outpatient clinics oversee the management of Oncology patients as they navigate their cancer journey by supporting patients and providers during provider driven clinical visits.

Bone Marrow Transplant

• 30 bed adult inpatient division provides treatment & supportive care for patients with a hematology and/or oncology diagnosis. Specializing in stem cell transplant, conventional & high dose chemotherapy protocols, as well as supportive care.

Infusion

• This unit oversees the management and administration of patients receiving intravenous infusions of chemotherapy/immunotherapy and other therapeutic regimes to treat and support patients with both Oncologic and Non-Oncologic conditions.

Medical Oncology

• This unit is a diverse medical-oncology floor where skill sets are built by fostering growth & teamwork.

Surgical Oncology

• 30 bed surgical oncology/ENT stepdown unit specializes in ENT free flap procedures, urological, & colorectal surgery.

Surgical Oncology / MICU Step Down

• 30 bed surgical oncology / MICU stepdown unit specializes in hepatobiliary procedures, gynecologic cancers, brachytherapy, breast cancer, plastic surgery, & has 6 designated MICU stepdown beds.
