Universal Service Administrative Company is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Washington, WA

Overview

As USAC continues to support universal service impacting health care providers, educators, and consumers, it is critical now more than ever that we hire people equally passionate and committed to helping fulfill our mission. We are currently seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative senior professional to serve as Senior Accountant within the Finance Division. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting you will:

  • perform accounting tasks and analysis related to accounting close, audit requirements, policy and procedure documentation, providing technical support to other accounting staff and expanding the capabilities, efficiency and service level of the accounting department

Responsibilities

Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, the Senior Accountant will perform accounting tasks and analysis related to accounting close, audit requirements, policy and procedure documentation, providing technical support to other accounting staff and expanding the capabilities, efficiency and service level of the accounting department. Among others, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Preparation and data entry of monthly journal entries.
  • Monthly analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Monthly analysis of financial statements.
  • Reviewand/or prepare monthly account reconciliations for program obligations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for submission to the FCC and Treasury.
  • Calculate monthly accruals.
  • Draft and maintain required policy and procedures. Participate and provide quality assurance related to the G/L close process and the generation of various financial statements and reports.
  • Interact with various USAC divisions and subcontractors to assure data provided to Finance group is accurate and timely.
  • Preparation of schedules and documents for internal and external audits.
  • Prepare monthly reports as required by both internal and external parties.
  • Work with USAC IT in maintenance of the general ledger accounting and reporting systems. Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations to management.
  • Reviewthe work or others for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

The successful candidate will excel at operating in a diverse and fluid environment, and will be crucial for the success of the Finance Division. You will have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant technical training and certifications
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of professional directly related experience.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years of operational/technical experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and ability to develop solutions to problems.
  • Experience with automated general ledgers.
  • Strong analytical skillswith the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of federal accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver information in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
  • Certified Government Financial Manager(CGFM) highly desired.
