Functions as a staff development specialist to analyze learning needs and develop appropriate education plans to meet the needs of the service line and organization. Coordinates, influences, and assists with the integration of research findings into corresponding patient care standards and nursing practice. Serves as a strong mentor and guide to Unit Based Educators (UBE).

This position may be assigned a specific mission to address in an emergency situation to assist in disaster response and recovery as part of the UPH DM Hospital Emergency Incident Command System. Situations of a critical nature may require an individual to perform multiple tasks until additional support can be obtained. Performs functions other than described due to extenuating circumstances.

Education: | MSN in nursing or commitment to obtain within 5 years. | MSN in nursing education strongly preferred |
Experience: | Three years in clinical specialty with experience in educational programming. | |
License(s)/Certification(s): | Current licensure as RN in state of Iowa Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. | Certification in area of specialty or staff development preferred/commitment to obtain; recommend participation in a professional organization. |
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: | Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions. | |
Other: | Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. |
