Summary
The Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) Director is responsible for the end to end SIOP process, as well as accountable for the planning processes for Demand, Supply, and Inventory. Additionally, this includes creating/communicating/leading the execution of the SIOP strategy and roadmap. The key deliverables for the position are on time generation of plans, at the best plan quality (Accurate, Even Bias, and minimal change), in compliance with the SIOP process and calendar to achieve our Financial Forecasts and Business Targets. The SIOP process is a new and young process at United Wheels, so continued change management with process and system improvement discipline is critical to the long term success of the process. Last, as we further our planning horizon in SIOP, to connect and drive CAPEX and footprint Operations strategy, developing/coaching/training our people and recruiting great people to drive the process and our growth is another critical success factor. This position reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain and Operations and is a highly visible position in the organization.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead the SIOP process to optimize the value chain relationships within company businesses to max out the value and transparency to the organization on issues, risks, and opportunities in the Covation Supply Chain
  • Ensure meetings take place, on time, and are properly documented with agenda, minutes, actions, and plan visibility tools.
  • Lead the Business Integration Plan process to create and provide supporting information, as a key input into the Executive Review
  • Lead the Executive Review and prep Executives for the Monthly Board Review
  • Train and implement risks and opportunities in each of the planning processes and the SIOP process.
  • Develop dashboards to provide transparency and single source of truth across functional areas to ensure alignment and optimal results. 
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) 
  • Continue to develop, implement, and maintain the Demand Planning process, providing coaching/training/best practice for Demand Planners and work together with Sales and Product Management to train and grow our collaboration and product life cycle management maturity.
  • Create requirements to implement the right system to support our Demand Planning Process
  • Create requirements to implement a process and system for creating a Constrained Supply Plan, aligned with our sister manufacturing business as well as our suppliers.
  • Manage the business intelligence growth required to mature SIOP process activities and tasks and drive data driven business decisions relative to improving service level, lead time, and working capital.
  • Leverage industry best practices and continuous improvement to continually enhance and max value of the SIOP process. 
  • Establish seamless internal relationships with customer facing functions: Sales, Product Management, and Marketing, as well as Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure visibility and transparency through the value chain for optimal business results.
  • Research business problems to raise and create solutions with the SIOP community. This includes data collection/measurements/analysis to ensure problems are solved for now and long term. 
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing to define and implement purchase order management best practices and standardization, to manage suppliers and ensure 3 way match.
Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information systems, or similar focus 
  • 10 years of Supply Chain planning experience gained through broad and deep experience in the field 
  • A deep understanding of a diverse customer and sales channel go to market strategy
  • Comprehensive understanding of ERP system process and key system functions related to demand planning, material requirements planning, Supply Chain constraint planning, and inventory management – Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One preferred
  • Demonstrated and in depth experience running a global SIOP process 
Preferred Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • APICS or equivalent Supply Chain Management Certification preferred.
Leadership Skills & Competencies
  • Experience in influencing, developing and or motivating people from diverse backgrounds and differing customer backgrounds.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Excellent analytical, organization, and decision making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of the organization, including the Executive Team and the Board. 
  • Demonstrated strategic business and leadership skills 
  • Self-motivated and self-driven with ability to work independently while also enjoying collaboration with cross-functional teams
Technical Skills & Competencies
  • ERP systems knowledge and demonstrated experience, specifically Procurement, Materials Management, and Master Data Management required
  • Advanced planning systems knowledge and demonstrated experience, specifically in Demand and Supply Planning (unconstrained and constrained) required. Inventory Management and SIOP Management experience a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Beginning to Intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Business Intelligence system knowledge and demonstrated experience, is highly preferred
Language Skills 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. 
Mathematical Skills 
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability 
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
