The Community Engagement Coordinator will support and advance United Way’s mission by leading our Community Engagement Center and supporting the implementation of all service activities leveraging a variety of volunteer groups of all ages. This position helps to improve lives by ensuring that volunteer time and talent is aligned with producing positive results and measurable outcomes in the Community Impact areas of Health, Education, and Financial Stability.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Fostering community partnerships and networking with local stakeholders.
• Developing and implementing engagement strategies to increase community involvement and support for our organization and partners
• Promoting and marketing the organization and its programs: in person, on the radio, in the newspaper, on television, by phone, and virtually through video communications.
• Managing social media platforms to promote United Way EUP’s mission and engage with the community.
• Recruiting, orienting, and tracking of all volunteers.
• Creating and scheduling volunteers and volunteer opportunities.
• Coordinating Days of Service projects throughout the year.
• Coordinating program tasks and projects.
• Event planning & facilitation - including being able to move up to 20 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. with assistance, occasionally.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with various programs and initiatives.
• Coordinating and facilitating committee meetings.
• Provide administrative support, including preparing reports on project performance using insights and impact data, maintaining volunteer files and project records, grant writing, and managing project budgets.
• General office support, including maintaining manuals, filing, answering phones, scheduling appointments/volunteer time.
• Regular travel required within our coverage area – Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac counties in the Eastern U.P.

Due to special events, position may require some weekends/evenings – notice is given prior to these events. (In many instances, children or other family members may be able to attend special events with you, as a volunteer, with prior approval from our CEO.)

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A valid driver’s license.
• Reliable, and appropriately insured, personal transportation.
• Proven experience in volunteer management, project or event coordination, community engagement.
• Strong knowledge of social media platforms
• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
• An ability to engage a wide variety of people in conversation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
