United Way of Amarillo & Canyon is Hiring a Community Initiatives Manager Near Amarillo, TX

Position Title: Community Initiatives Manager

Salary Range: $60, 000(Commensurate with Experience)

Category: Full-Time

Status: Non-profit

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Reports to: Senior Director, Community Impact, Secondary, CEO/President

Work Schedule: 8:30 AM- 4:30 PM Monday – Friday; must be available to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, as needed. Travel Required: Local travel in the service area; some travel to State and Regional meetings.

BACKGROUND -
The United Way of Amarillo & Canyon, Texas (UWAC) is dedicated to serving our community, particularly those living below the ALICE Threshold. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed, representing individuals who live above the federal poverty line but below the cost of living, or what it takes to survive. The ALICE threshold distinguishes between the ALICE population and the self-sufficient population. Therefore, everyone living below the ALICE threshold is either ALICE or living in poverty. We are committed to removing barriers for individuals in both categories, empowering them to become self-sufficient, and fostering happier, healthier, and more productive community members.

POSITION SUMMARY -

The Community Initiatives Manager will be responsible for enhancing existing programs that address the barriers faced by individuals below the ALICE threshold, as well as for developing new initiatives. Additionally, this role entails direct oversight of the planning, execution, and evaluation of the United Way of Amarillo & Canyon’s Youth Philanthropy Program. The incumbent will also play a vital role within the Community Impact Department, particularly in organizing the annual Day of Caring event, fostering relationships with Program Partners, contributing to the development of the Community Status report, and fulfilling other assigned duties.

The incumbent will operate under the guidance of the Senior Director for Community Impact but will be expected to autonomously carry out job functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES -

  • Oversee and execute all facets of the Youth Philanthropy Program, including developing relationships with the local schools, the Change 4 Change Program, Youth Day, and Youth Allocations.
  • Work closely in the Community Impact department on Day of Caring and the Community Status Report.
  • Work closely in the Community Impact department in relationship building with our Program Partners including site-visits, Program Partner gatherings and training, allocations, and working with our Community Impact Councils.
  • Ensuring that listserv is properly maintained.
  • Work closely with the Community Impact Department in the FEMA grant allocations.
  • Participating in various fundraising and grant writing opportunities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES -

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of community organizing, marketing, communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative partnerships.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation ability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information and management of a variety of responsibilities.
  • Employee must have a valid Driver’s License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS -

The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable and may include driving a personal vehicle approximately 10% of the time which includes exposure to the outside weather elements and moving mechanical parts. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

The incumbent in the course of performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, seeing (such as close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any or all of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy, and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), computer terminal, personal computer, and related printers. The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem-solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, and multiple concurrent tasks.
