Senator Chris Van Hollen seeks a research assistant and writer to join an active communications team. Responsibilities for this position include working with external stakeholders and teams across the office to pull information in order to write talking points, statements, brief remarks, video greeting scripts, and e-newsletters. The role also assists in drafting and curating information for long-form speeches, op-eds, and additional outreach communications on a range of topics. A qualified candidate will be an excellent writer, be able to quickly and accurately identify and synthesize key points, have a deep understanding or interest in policy, exhibit excellent research skills, pay keen attention to detail, and be highly adaptable. Additionally the candidate should be highly organized with an ability to juggle competing projects and possess a strong collaborative spirit and an openness to feedback.
