SUMMARY

The Process Improvement/Quality Control Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing quality control processes, evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas of improvement using statistical control methodology, act as ISO coordinator, document control, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. They will provide strategic direction, lead, plan, direct, and coordinate activities regarding quality performance, systems, and processes and all CI activities. This role provides overall Quality Assurance leadership and support for activities related to process and material qualifications, stability, and product launch activities as well as proactive management of internal and external quality issues and root cause analysis. Must be flexible and accessible for a three-shift operation. From a proportional perspective, this role will require the successful candidate to spend 60 % of the time on the manufacturing floor.

This position is a hands-on highly engaged role. It requires an individual that is comfortable in an industrial work environment. They will need a basic understanding of manufacturing processes and able to lead continuous improvement activities on the floor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Generate scorecards and reports for all aspects of plant quality, not limited to and including FMEA, CARs, SCARs, COAs, PPAP, SPC reporting, losses, internal, and third-party & and customer audits.

· Manage department continuous improvement activities including new technology, and procedural changes to improve processes and/or equipment.

· Oversees internal and external audits relative to ISO standards.

· Manage Supplier Auditing Program

· Administer Corrective Action to employees not abiding by quality and safety requirements.

· Support Plant management in executing and spreading quality policies.

· Promote quality performance improvement throughout the organization.

· Understand the needs of customers and suppliers.

· Establish continual improvement of the QMS processes.

· Determine risks and opportunities that can affect product conformity.

· Implementing methods to inspect, test, and evaluate products and production equipment.

· Ensuring that products adhere to quality standards.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· AA or BA, preferably in related engineering or science field desired but not mandatory.

· 5 to 10 years of experience in Quality leadership and Lean Manufacturing principles.

· 5 years of experience leading and managing people.

· Proven track record of success in leading Quality to year-over-year improvement, developing innovative Quality concepts and building a results-oriented organization.

· Demonstrated experience in defining quality objectives and structure in conjunction with Prior responsibility for Quality within a company recognized for “best-in-class” operational performance using Lean/Six Sigma and/or other continuous improvement tools.

· Experience with the requirements and expectations of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System required.

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with computer applications including MS Office Suite. Minitab would be a plus.

· Conceptual leader with strong analytical skills and know-how to organize work.

· Able to work and influence collaboratively and cross functionally, and effectively within a diverse population and achieve results.

· Lean/Six Sigma black belt certification (preferred).

· Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).

· Must have the ability to travel domestically, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license are required. Overnight domestic required.
