United Network For Organ Sharing is Hiring a Manager, Survey Services Near Richmond, VA

About the Position

Position Description

The Manager, Survey Services has responsibility for effective management of site survey employees and oversight of all site surveyor activities related to continuous, routine, focused, and directed reviews of transplant programs and organ procurement organizations (OPOs). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement standardized procedures for activities relating to Site Survey, including:

oConsistent processes for continuous, routine, focused, and directed member reviews.

oConsistent processes for preparation of material for MPSC review

  • Actively identify improvements for Site Survey, including tools used by staff, by the MPSC, and the methods for the delivery of information.
  • Maintain survey schedule, appoint staff to conduct reviews and ensure all surveys are completed on time.
  • Establish, implement, and review measurable goals and trends.
  • Manage and monitor the workload and work quality of site survey staff.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and report relevant information as required.
  • Oversee all deliverables, facilitate improved ease of reporting and assure on-time delivery of information.
  • Participate in MPSC and other transplant related meetings and conferences as necessary.
  • Assist with committee appointments, work with other liaisons to vet potential candidates, and oversee annual training for new committee members.

Engage in Continuous Quality Improvement Activities Within Functional Area and for the Department

·Participate in organizational quality efforts, and the development/monitoring of metrics for functional area.

·Conduct continuous review of departmental processes to identify opportunities for improvement and propose enhancements and quality improvement projects as appropriate.

·Develop a comprehensive performance improvement strategy for functional area and department that includes both staff and MPSC processes.

·Propose, assist in developing, and advocate for new monitoring enhancements designed to strengthen quality performance throughout the staff and transplant community.

Management & Leadership

  • Ensure staff performance metrics are being measured, tracked, and acted upon.
  • Ensure recruitment, training, and retention of capable, qualified staff.
  • Actively plan and coordinate the hiring process to assure candidates are thoroughly evaluated and informed of position requirements.
  • Ensure orientation and training follow Member Quality and team-driven standards.
  • Ensure high job satisfaction among staff through clear expectations, reward for high performance, and coaching to address any deficiencies.
  • Assertively implement corrective action with staff whose performance falls below expectations.
  • Delegate workloads to staff in a fair, equitable manner, while assuring opportunities for interesting or challenging projects to those that show aptitude, experience, and interest.
  • Cross-train staff in the area of oversight to reduce risks associated with fluctuations in staffing.
  • Engage staff in the development of individualized professional development planning.
  • Advocate for staff participation in continuing education and training activities based on merit and need.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in a position that requires dealing with public and professional communities, preferably in a medical-related setting is required. 
  • 2 years of people management experience is required. (Equivalent level of project, supervisory or other related leadership experience will be considered for internal applicants)

Critical Skills

  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-focused environment is required. Proven capability in employing quality improvement techniques in daily operations and developing innovative approaches and implementation strategies to improve quality of work required. 
  • Experience working in regulatory compliance preferred.
  • Familiarity with the field of organ transplantation preferred.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to effectively organize time and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Must work comfortably in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong people and team building skills.
  • Possess an ability to competently work with associates at all levels of the organization, interface with senior members of the health care profession, high-level federal officials, and transplant professionals including physicians, surgeons, and management. 
  • Prior performance must exhibit proven skills in being self-directed, detail orientated and able to manage, as well as support multiple projects simultaneously. Strong project management skills are essential for this position.
  • A demonstrated ability to function in a team-based environment, as well as the ability to work independently, learning on-the-go while completing new initiatives, and keeping an eye towards identifying improvement opportunities are essential.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in preparing formal reports. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and Adobe skills are preferred. 

Education

4-year degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or other related field of study, or equivalent work experience.An advanced degree in biological sciences or health care field is preferred.
