United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley is Hiring a Database Administrator Near Corporate, CA

Overview

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the database administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, performance, integrity, maintenance, and security of the organization’s databases, data systems, and data interfaces. Additional responsibilities include reporting and database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

Works closely with the Director of Information Technology and other members of the Information Technology team to:

  • Assesses malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and database operations.
  • Architects database/data systems in order to optimize database accessibility, performance, and security.
  • Builds database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions.
  • Creates, tests, and executes data management languages.
  • Develops database utilities and automated reporting.
  • Analyzes and sustains capacity and performance requirements.
  • Monitors systems and platforms for availability.
  • Oversees backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
  • Performs maintenance operations daily, weekly and monthly on SQL servers and databases, and information systems to ensure efficient program operations.
  • Performs database backups and restorations and recovers corrupted databases.
  • Evaluates and recommends new database technologies.
  • Implements and maintains database security and encryption.
  • Implements, monitors, and maintains data/information interfaces between disparate systems.
  • Develops, manages and tests database and information system backup and recovery plans.
  • Develops standards and policies for data entry and ensures compliance.
  • Prepares written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • Prepares and distributes reports, including but not limited to weekly and monthly status reports to the IT Director.
  • Attends seminars, conferences, in-service training and staff meetings as required.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited school preferred
  • Must obtain and maintain vendor and industry certifications as directed.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Possess a valid CA driver's license.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years hands on experience equivalent to that of a database administrator, preferably in a FQHC environment.

SKILLS:

  • Proven experience and success with enterprise-class database engineering, design, implementation and support.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of the following:
  • SQL Server 2008 and newer
  • Windows Server 2008 and newer; IIS server 6
  • Database system/server performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Data/information exchanges and interfaces
  • Virtualization of database systems
  • Must have knowledge of Windows scripting and programming languages.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the initiative to take ownership of large projects and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must have demonstrated strengths in, planning and organization of materials and tools skills.
  • Must have strong written documentation skills.
  • Project management experience preferred but not required.
  • Must possess valid California Driver's License and have current auto insurance.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and compliance laws a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with patients and providers of differing backgrounds; team player
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Familiar with adult learning and general training techniques

  • Flexibility and dependability
  • Demonstrated good problem-solving skills; sound judgment
