Position Summary:

The Food Drive Coordinator is in charge of coordinating logistics for all food drives that generate food donations and other resources that advance the mission of United Food Bank. This position entails a high volume of email, and phone calls, and requires excellent customer service skills, as well as competence in both logistics and marketing. Successful candidates will possess a background in customer service, event coordination, or sales, be fluent in Microsoft Office suite and basic database applications, possess strong attention to detail, and the ability to confidently articulate United Food Bank’s needs and logistical capabilities when interacting with donors. Knowledge of and experience with foods and nutrition needs a plus. This position reports directly to the Community Partnerships and Grants Manager.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Solicits and schedules food drives.
  • Makes public presentations to community groups to generate interest for food drives.
  • Generates and maintains strategic partnerships with corporations.
  • Assists with solicitation of sponsorships and in-kind support from the community to benefit the organization.
  • Works with staff to promote and generate volunteer support to benefit the organization.
  • Assists with special events as needed.
  • Assists with the management of volunteer activities as needed.

Manage and expand food donations through food drives:

  • Implement and coordinate all internal- and external-generated food drives and coordinate UFB’s efforts at special events that have a food drive component.
  • Supply support materials, logistical planning, and public outreach efforts.
  • Oversee daily flow of food drive paperwork to Operations/Warehouses.
  • Working with the Philanthropy team to create online “Virtual Food Drives” in the provided web-based environment to capture financial donations.
  • Work in collaboration with Operations, Agencies, Philanthropy, and Programs Departments.
  • Receive donor calls and work with the Operations Manager and Transportation Manager to respond to donation offers in a prompt, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Work in collaboration with enabled partner agencies to conduct food drives in their community or to act as an enabled agency to accept donations from the community.
  • Check email and phone frequently to attend to high-volume inquiries from donors, food bank staff, and managers to explain food bank donation services and the benefits of donating.
  • Provide excellent customer service and relationship management.
  • Generate certificates of appreciation for donors.
  • Call on and confer with existing donors to build strong long-term donor relations.
  • Regularly communicate with Operations, Philanthropy, and Agency staff regarding food drives, events with food drive components, and other pertinent information.
  • Support other projects and staff in any area of marketing, public relations, and fundraising as needed.
  • Actively track and report efforts and results to Corporate Relations- Community & Grants Manager.
  • Generate monthly activity reports to track donor contacts and maintain notes on the content of meetings/calls.

Other duties

  • All other duties as assigned by the Corporate Partnerships- Community & Grants Manager. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree (A.A.), or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and two years related customer service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer proficiency in Google Sit, and Microsoft Office Software, specifically Word and Excel. 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Able to effectively communicate and interact with diverse clientele and staff. 
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the food bank. 
  • Ability to effectively analyze situations and resolve routine and complex problems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 
  • Adept at handling multiple tasks and concurrent projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must have a flexible schedule to attend all after-hours food drive events.
  • Safe driving record, current vehicle insurance, and ability to use personal and company vehicles.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheets and Word processing software.
