Imperia is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer in Mt. Laurel, NJ with the following skills:

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare civil/structural calculations and evaluations in support of various design activities including, but not limited to the design of piping, cables and small equipment supports, instrument rack design, floor load impacts to concrete structures evaluations, foundation designs, equipment anchoring evaluations and seismic response evaluations.
  • Under the direction of the Project Manager, prepare civil/structural installation and design change packages, work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and vendors to complete tasks on schedule and on budget.
  • Exercise sound judgment in assessing problem situations, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data, coordinate the design with other discipline groups on the same project.
  • Under minimal supervision analyze and qualify foundation and structural component designs for power generation, substations, and transmission/distribution facilities.

What we're looking for in you:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the structural engineering field.
  • Experience developing modification packages for components and structures.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and guidelines.
  • Familiarity with foundation designs for equipment and buildings (piles, spread footers, etc).
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-starter and strong multitasker

Additional Qualifications:

  • Preparation of purchase and construction specifications, review of vendor bid packages and shop drawings.
  • Experience with using AutoCAD, MicroStation, STAAD Pro and Revit
  • Experience in developing plans and calculations to design new switchyards/substations and upgrade aging switchyards/substations.
  • Design and upgrades/modifications include replacements of transformers, oil containment systems, fire walls, bus supports, circuit breakers, disconnects, structural concrete and steel supports, control boxes, cable trenches and conduits.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
  • Experience with industry standard design processes of substations a plus.
  • Experience with engineering software such as ANSYS, AutoPipe and MathCad a plus
  • Experience in development of infrastructure projects such as storm water management facilities, site grading plans and permitting, light, medium and ultra-heavy load roadway design, and reinforced concrete retaining structures including MSE walls and soil nail walls is a plus but not required.
  • Structural design related to GIS Buildings (steel structure and foundations) is a plus.
  • Experience with concrete is plus.
