Position: Estimator
Location: Connecticut
Salary: $120k-$150k

Overview:
A leading heavy civil construction company is seeking an Estimator to join their team. This position will report to a chief estimator and will be responsible for bidding on public and private projects ranging from $500k to over $5M.

Requirements:

• Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating, preferably in heavy civil and marine construction projects.
• Heavy Civil/Marine Construction Experience: Strong background and familiarity with heavy civil and marine construction projects, including understanding the unique challenges and requirements associated with these projects.
• Bid Management: Ability to manage the entire bid process from take-off to submittal, including cost estimation, material take-offs, labor analysis, subcontractor/vendor solicitation, and bid document preparation.
• Prequalification Submittals/Scheduling: Proficiency in managing prequalification submittals and scheduling activities to ensure compliance with project deadlines and requirements.
• Project Research: Ability to conduct thorough research on projects out for bid, including understanding project specifications, scope of work, site conditions, and other relevant information to prepare accurate bids.
• Engineering Background Preferred: While not mandatory, candidates with an engineering background or relevant technical education/experience will be preferred due to the complex nature of construction projects and the need for technical expertise in estimating.

The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and negotiation skills are also essential for interacting with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
