The Sales Area Manager is responsible for managing and coaching Sales Representatives, Apprentices and Merchandisers as well as oversight of Delivery division associates in assigned market. This role will ensure alignment between department goals, strategies and objectives and customer requirements. The person will also provide advice regarding solutions to complex customer problems and coach others on maximizing efficiency and effectiveness with customers of various types.

  • Must be 21 years of older
  • High school or vocational school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university preferred
  • Proven experience in and an understanding of Sales, Supply Chain, and Customer Service
  • Five (5) or more years of direct experience in a similar position preferred
  • Clean driving record
  • Valid driver’s license for applicable state
  • Ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with state laws
  • Ability to secure and maintain a State Alcohol Sales Permit in accordance with state laws

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, determine and execute on strategies to improve upon on agreed commercial KPIs (e.g., revenue, gross profit, forecast accuracy etc.)
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and insure company program execution
  • Develop monthly sales focus and activities; set performance goals accordingly
  • Supervise and support Off Premise Sales Division associates and activities
  • Supervise Delivery Assistant Territory Manager and support Delivery operations
  • Support On Premise Sales Associates and activities as needed
  • Provide Feedback, Coaching, Counseling and Corrective Action to associates, in partnership with Human Resources, as needed.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, hire and terminate associates in accordance with company policy as appropriate.
  • Meet with key customer assisting Sales Representatives with maintaining relationships as well as negotiating and closing deals
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify factors negatively impacting forecast analyses and take mitigating action
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Some work in normal office environment
  • Frequent driving to sales points and meetings
  • Able to maintain very high proficiency and job standards while working in a non-temperature controlled environment that includes exposure to heat, high humidity, and inclement weather
  • Able to work occasionally in refrigerated areas
  • Exposure to smoke and dust in certain accounts
  • Able to work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels

Physical Requirements and Essential Functions

  • Able to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time, using computer keyboard, mouse, monitor, or calculator
  • Able to talk and hear, stand and walk, reach with arms and hands, lift and carry, and use hands and fingers
  • Able to perform greater than average lifting (up to 50 lbs), with some overhead lifting required
  • Able to frequently climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Ability to work in refrigerated area, bend, or stoop
  • Must have specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, and ability to judge distance
