United Christian Academy is Hiring an Athletic Coach - JH Volleyball Near Rancho Cucamonga, CA

United Christian Academy is seeking a JH Head Volleyball Coach for the 2024-2025 Fall and Winter seasons and beyond. The candidate should have a worldview and vision for athletics in-line with the school’s mission and vision statement. We are seeking a coach who is excited to grow and build the program, is excellent in planning and organizing a season with purpose, and has a strong understanding of the sport and ability to teach and strategize with professionalism and maturity.

General Description: The Volleyball Coach is responsible for organizing and executing the Junior High Volleyball program at United Christian Academy. He/she is responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive techniques to prepare them for events and competitions. He/she is to motivate student atheletes to develp an appreciation of the sport.

Reports to: Athletic Director

Grade Levels: 6th - 8th Grade

Work Schedule: 6 – 12 hours per week from mid-July through October. Must arrive on campus by 3 pm

Position Classification: Hourly

Pay Classification: $16.00 per Hour

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Christian Conduct.
  • Must be a member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
  • Must have good verbal,written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Should have previous coaching experience at middle school or higher level
  • Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. 
  • Self motivation, creativity, and the ability to deliver constructive criticism.
  • Successful completion of NFHS “Fundamental of Coaching” and “First Aid, Health, & Safety for Coaches” courses
  • First Aid/CPR Certificate.
  • TB clearance within the last four years.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
  • Mandated Reporter Training Course
  • Sexual Harassment Training Course
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form

Part 1: Personal and Spiritual Responsibilities

1.1 Displays a personal decorum that models professionalism, modesty, and good taste

1.2 Models Christian virtues in attitude, speech, and action

  • Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23)
  • Models and cultivates habits of prayer, faith, and encouragement
  • Commits and contributes to a local church

1.3 Maintains good attendance and physical endurance to fulfill job duties

1.4 Uses professional etiquette appropriate for Christian school

  • Shows positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students and staff
  • Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information

1.5. Models Sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, official, and spectators.

1.6. Models non-discriminartory practices in all activities.

Part 2: Duties / Responsibilities

2.1 Works with athletes during practices, events, and competitions.

2.2 Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.

2.3 Assess skills and assigns team positions; chooses team members.

2.4 Creates practice and game plans; organizes practice sessions.

2.5 Monitors each athlete, recommending safe techniques, and supervising warm-ups.

2.6 Coaches and instructs athletes, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.

2.7 Observes athletes during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.

2.8 Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times.

2.9 Works with sponsor to monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility reuirements are met.

2.10 Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.

2.11 Must have current regulations and rules, updates, and be willing to seek advice when necessary.

2.12 Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms

2.13 Works with Athletic Director and administrative assistant to develop a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.

2.14 Participates in special activities including but not limited to Discover Nights, banquests, award nights, and pep rallies.

2.15 Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records.

2.16 Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional development activities to improve coaching performance.

2.17 Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrators.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing/walking (70%), lifting (20%), climbing (4%), bending (4%), squatting (2%). Must be able to lift 15-75 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments, including football field, grass areas and gym. Shared space may be required; moderate to high noise levels commensurate to a outdoor/playground environment.
