Description

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist - Medical position is responsible for providing direct therapy services to UCP of Central Florida (UCP) in-clinic and outpatient clients according to all local, state, and federal regulations. The Occupational Therapist - Medical reports to the Therapy Practice Office Manager (TPOM) at each campus where services are rendered. The Occupational Therapist - Medical ensures all clients under her/his caseload receive a high- quality therapy program by optimizing each client abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Client’s Care:

  • Selects, conducts, and implements appropriate and effective therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, and therapy sessions/interventions.
  • Interprets evaluative data and establish measurable goals.
  • Applies and adapts therapy sessions according to clients’ needs and established goals. Recognizes when patient has received optimal benefit from therapy services.
  • Meets productivity according to annual goal.
  • Collaborates with education staff to facilitate incorporation of clients' therapy goals into classroom activities, when applicable.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary planning with staff members (other therapy disciplines, education, nursing, etc).
  • Participates in client’s meetings, wheelchair clinics, orthopedic clinics, and in hospital, doctor's office, school, and medical equipment company visits when applicable.
  • Assesses client needs and makes recommendations for splints, orthotics, assistive technology devices and/or equipment when applicable.
  • Measures, orders and/or fabricates splints, orthotics, assistive devices, or equipment when applicable.
  • Assesses other equipment needs and make recommendations.

Working with Parents:

  • Provides parent consultations and instructions for home programs.
  • Coordinates equipment loans for home use, such as: seating devices, balls, bolsters, adaptive utensils, etc.
  • Speaks to parent groups and provide educational materials.
  • Generates monthly parent therapy notes for medical clients according to agency guidelines.

Client’s Records:

  • Ensures compliance of UCP Confidentiality and HIPAA patient rights procedures for all client documentation and information in therapist caseload.
  • Documents and completes accurate daily progress notes at the end of each session according to UCP guidelines.
  • Reports accountability data according to agency guidelines. 75% of caseload should achieve 75% of their individual goals per year.
  • Documents care plans, Part C/Early Step reports, assistive technology reports, equipment recommendations, discharge notes, and school reports according to agency guidelines.
  • Documents evaluations, re-evaluations, and addendums and turn them in according to UCP guidelines.
  • Completes daily super bill per site and turns it in before the end of each workday.
  • Provides/generates correspondence to community resources regarding client care (i.e., physicians, schools, vendors, etc.) when applicable.

Public Relations:

  • Collaborates with other community agencies as directed and/or needed.
  • Assists with therapy presentations and video demonstrations for agency public relations/marketing purposes.
  • Demonstrates therapy functions to community groups such as college students, physician residents from area hospitals, etc., for educational purposes.

Training:

  • Participates in in-service training programs.
  • Attends at least 2 continuing education courses (or equivalent) per FY focused on areas authorized by the agency.
  • Assists with training and monitoring interns, students, employees, and others when applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • One (1) year preferred with pediatric developmentally challenged population in multidisciplinary setting. New graduates with pediatric internships will be considered.
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in therapy Field (Master’s or Doctorate preferred)
  • Licensed as an OT in the State of Florida.

Minimum Experience:

  • Demonstrates expertise in understanding local, state, and federal therapy practice guidelines.
  • Demonstrates expertise in understanding agency clinical therapy service policies and procedures and service delivery model.
  • Demonstrates high professional and personal standards of integrity.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of UCP charter school, therapy, and administration.
