Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Procurement Manager to manage the company’s supply of products and services for the repairing of trucks and trailer fleet. Procurement Manager responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. The Procurement Manager’s duty is to discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses, while maximize the efficiency and uptime of out of service equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies
  • Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
  • Examine and test existing contracts
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
  • Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
  • Develop, implement, and monitor compliance to a fuel cost saving strategy to ensure trucks are fueled at the lowest acquisition cost, while maximizing productivity.
  • Develop and monitor compliance to national account programs to ensure products and services are at agreed upon pricing and utilized properly.
  • Work with outside vendors on repairs to reduce maintenance costs are controlled.
  • Manage disposal of equipment to ensure profit is maximized.
  • Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.

Work Experience:

  • Five years of heavy truck and trailer parts procurement experience
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Accounting and business leadership desired
  • Parts and tire experience desired
  • OSHA, EPA desired
  • Ability to hire and interview potential candidates
  • Vendor negotiating a plus

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Computer keyboarding and 10-key
