Since 1991, Unique People Services (UPS) has grown and now operate supportive housing programs in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn, Queens, and Westchester. Each year more than 800 persons stay within one of our residences. They receive meals and other support services that include case management and focusing on achieving the highest possible level of independent living. We offer both transitional and permanent housing for formerly homeless persons with HIV/AIDS, long-term and permanent housing for formerly homeless persons with a mental illness, and permanent housing for adults with developmental disabilities.

Job Summary

• UPS is seeking an experienced Medical Biller independently motivated individual who will be responsible for billing of payer claims according to contract terms to include Medicaid and Managed Care guidelines.
• Ensure client compliance in receiving and maintaining entitlement benefits for individuals in the Agency's Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health programs.
• Certify compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations as well as specific policies and procedures.
• Ensure internal control compliance with all assigned areas and other audit requirements.
• Produce assigned daily billing reports to determine account needs and updates files with current billing information.
• Reviews and confirms appropriate billing documentation is obtained for individuals in various programs.
• Review remittance statements and report to supervisor.
• Access and track pending and/or denied billing and report to supervisor.
• Track adjustments, recoup payments and retroactive payments.
• Create fiscal reports as required and develop year-end audit reports.
• Review service documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Resolve issues with claims that have been denied and/or rejected.
• Will serve as liaison to Medicaid and Managed Care providers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and/or substantial related experience.
• Familiar with Medicaid and Medicaid Managed Care guidelines and programs.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT medical service codes.
• Experience in the use of Electronic Health Record preferred.
• Solid understanding of medical billing compliance.
• Able to work under demanding time frame in order to meet tight deadlines.
• Highly organized with good analytical skills essential.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent follow up and time management skills.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.) Strong Excel skills a strong plus.
• Knowledge of Foothold, CellTrak, EMedNY a plus.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
