DESCRIPTION

The Union County Engineer is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Roadside Mowing Operators. These are temporary appointments not to exceed 1,000 hours, beginning in May & ending approximately in November. Hours of operations are four 10-hour days, Monday-Thursday. Schedules may vary based on operational needs, weather, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age, have a valid Ohio driver's license and a good driving record. Qualifications also include completion of secondary education (high school) plus a minimum of one year experience operating mowing or farm equipment. Experience with mowing preferred. Attention to safety and detail in the performance of duties is a must. Must be a team player but capable of working independently on most tasks.
This is an unclassified, hourly, temporary position. Selected candidates must be capable of passing a comprehensive background investigation, including a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Additionally, the candidate will be expected to work the full-time hours, as noted, however hours may be adjusted due to various factors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Duties performed by the successful candidates will include operating medium size tractors with rear mounted offset rotary mowers for mowing vegetation along county and township roadsides throughout Union County. Must be comfortable working outdoors and attention to safety is a must!

This position is eligible for sick leave, participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS), and other benefits of employment as outlined in the Union County Personnel Policy Manual. This position is not eligible for insurance benefits.
