Job Title: Water Aerobics and Strength and Conditioning Instructor

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and energetic individual to join our team as a Water Aerobics and Strength and Conditioning Instructor. In this role, you will lead engaging and dynamic water aerobics classes and strength and conditioning sessions, providing participants with effective workouts tailored to their fitness levels and goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement water aerobics and strength and conditioning routines that cater to participants of varying fitness levels and abilities.
• Lead group fitness classes in a safe, motivating, and inclusive manner, ensuring participants enjoy a positive exercise experience.
• Provide personalized guidance and support to participants, offering modifications and adjustments as needed to accommodate individual needs and goals.
• Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and form to ensure participants perform exercises safely and effectively.
• Maintain a clean and organized workout environment, including setting up and storing equipment as needed.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices related to water aerobics, strength training, and fitness instruction.
• Collaborate with other fitness professionals and staff members to promote a positive and supportive team environment.

Qualifications:

• Certified instructor through SilverSneakers (Union College Center for Health and Learning will cover costs associated with this certification).
• Certified Water Aerobics Instructor and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist preferred.
• Previous experience teaching water aerobics and/or strength and conditioning classes is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire participants.
• Knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and anatomy.
• CPR/AED certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and athletes.
• CPR/WED certified. We also offer certification.
• Additional certifications in related fitness disciplines (e.g., personal training, group fitness) are a plus.

Typical Working conditions and Unique Physical Requirments:

• Classes will be conducted indoors in the pool environment.
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift light to moderate weights.
• Work is typically performed inside in a pool environment
• Noise level is generally moderate
• Regularly required to speak and hear
• Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time over various terrains
• Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Recurrent climbing of interior and exterior stairs
• Vision capability required but not limited to distance, peripheral and low light
• May be required to lift or carry items weighing up to 50lbs
