Union Bank & Trust Co. is Hiring a Benefits Officer Near Lincoln, NE

Position Summary: The HR Benefits Officer is responsible for providing strategic leadership, development, design, implementation, and administration of the UBT benefits package including Health and Welfare, voluntary, time off programming, tuition reimbursement, financial support, pre-tax savings plans, and other unique programs to support employee engagement, organizational culture, market competitiveness and fiscal responsibility.

Essential Functions:

  • Under the direction of the AVP of Benefits & Compensation, design, implement and monitor trends to ensure the suite of employee benefits support UBT and affiliate company goals, objectives to maintain UBT’s position as employer of choice.
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, service providers and third-party administrators relating to benefits. Core benefits include, but are not limited to Self-Funded Medical, Self-Funded Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance, AD&D, ancillary products, 401(k), FSA and HSA. Assist in the development, monitoring and review of the service contract budget and adhere to the UBT Third Party Risk Management due diligence process.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and organizational leaders in evaluating, administering, and enhancing UBT’s benefits programs.
  • Lead employee education efforts relating to UBT’s benefits programs; including, but not limited to: (1) monthly New Employee Benefits Roundtable; (2) Manager Bootcamp, and (3) annual Supervisor Briefing.
  • In collaboration with the Wellbeing Officer, lead, design, market, and implement the annual employee open enrollment strategy, educating and counseling employees on wellbeing and benefits.
  • Consult with associates, business partners and vendors to identify and resolve issues related to employee benefits.
  • Market and promote the programs available to educate participants on the benefit offerings available and the value they provide.
  • Assist with the annual review of the UBT benefits packages to ensure competitive positioning.
  • Build and nurture internal relationships with senior managers to anticipate future benefits opportunities.
  • Represent UBT at various internal and community activities, including leading the local HR Benefits Forum.
  • Monitor trends, compliance requirements and developments in the benefits industry.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Benefits & Compensation in ensuring regulatory compliance of employee benefits programs with government regulations including notice and disclosure, compliance testing and required reporting.
  • Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of in-depth benefits design, administration, and compliance experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, HR or related field strongly preferred.
  • CEBS, CCP, PHR, SPHR, CBP, or law degree certification strongly preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of employment law regulations including, but not limited to FLSA, EPA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADAAA, PPACA, DOL, IRS, ERISA and 401(k) required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with demonstrated ability to conduct group presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s license.

Working Environment:

Indoor work – not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards. Some sedentary work and lifting and/or carrying up to 10 pounds.Some travel required. This role is eligible for hybrid work from home opportunity under the work from home guidelines upon completion of onboarding.
