Unicoi State Park and Lodge is Hiring a Park Services Near Helen, GA

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Park Manager, this position performs a variety of tasks in maintenance and landscape work, operates equipment in the operation, repair, maintenance for Unicoi State Park and Lodge by performing the following duties.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Functions:

  • Responds to complaints regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, park, building, water leaks, parks facilities problems; evaluates situation; explains findings to supervisor
  • Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use
  • Safely operates vehicles of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, performing tree work, and other job functions
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
  • Prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods
  • Safely operates a variety of power construction and maintenance equipment used in parks maintenance operations
  • Clean park facilities to include trash pickup and day use bathroom

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations and using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Products; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Must be proficient with retail point-of-sale systems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
