Summary:

This Executive Director of Workforce Pathways will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the future of healthcare workforce development within UNC Health, School of Medicine and affiliated entities. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive workforce strategy, addressing immediate needs and long-term talent pipeline challenges. This position will be a collaborator, and innovator, working closely with leadership, cross functional teams, and external partners to ensure a sustainable and skilled healthcare workforce.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Ingram Institute
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders from other areas of the organization to determine how to balance available resources with the system's workforce needs.
  • Assesses organizational need to direct the design and deployment of a variety of workforce and pathway development programs, policies, tools, and processes to enhance the performance of the UNC Health system.
  • Uses performance measures and feedback from UNC Health, UNC SOM, and UNC Health Affairs leaders to spearhead the evaluation and implementation of an effective pathways and workforce development framework and strategy for the System.
  • Leads the development of new partnerships and expands existing partnerships with external stakeholders to achieve the vision and mission of the Ingram Institute.
  • Identifies and cultivates external partnerships and relationships with other healthcare systems and higher education institutions across the state to advance the workforce and pathways strategy of the UNC Health system.
  • Lead the development and implementation of practical, data-driven solutions to address UNC systemwide critical healthcare workforce needs, leading to a sustainable healthcare workforce.
  • Oversee the Ingram Institute communications strategy to align with the vision of the Ingram Institute sponsors, UNC SOM, and the UNC Health Care System leadership.
  • Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Provides an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Professional Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of workforce development, talent acquisition, or a related field, with at least seven (7) years of management experience.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging workforce trends, talent shortage areas, and effective strategies for addressing them.
  • Knowledge of various educational pathways, training programs, and their role in preparing individuals for healthcare careers.
  • Securing funding to support workforce development initiatives through grants, partnerships, and other means.
  • Successfully leading and managing projects related to workforce development initiatives.
  • Effectively negotiate with stakeholders and secure buy-in for program initiatives.
  • Effectively navigate and lead organizational change initiatives related to workforce development.
