- Position Summary

The Temeletry Technician interpretes rhythm strips and provides continuous monitor and patient observation. The Telemetry Technician performs rhythm strip documentation, patient oxygen percentages, and may perform EKG's as instructed by professional staff. This position works under the supervision of the licensed nurse. The Telemetry Technician effectively communicates with professional nursing staff in the event of an emergency, ands is ability to adapt and maintain calm demeanor in an ever-changing, fast-paced working environment.
The Telemetry Technician acts within the standards of behavior of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. The Telemetry Technicians behavior aligns with the strategic vision, mission, and values of the organization. - Position Qualifications
- Minimum Education
- High School Diploma is required at time of hire.

- Experience
- Previous experience in the medical field, or similar role is preferred.

- Required Registration/License/Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
- Successful completion of telemetry course with passing score as outlined in policy/procedures and obtained by Appalachian Regional Healthcare System.
- Completes telemetry course and passes the test on cardiac monitoring.

- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physicians; acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills.
- Competent in delivering safe and effective patient care within limits of certification and hospital policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the continuum of care.
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians.
- Computer skills including data entry and the EMR.

- Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and/or transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds.

- Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
- Frequently exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment, odorous chemicals, and specimens and unpleasant elements (accident, injury, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces), etc.
- Subject to irregular hours (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) and emergencies.
- Continuous standing and walking long periods = to or greater than > 8 hours per shift.
