Umass Lowell is Hiring a Research Coordinator II (temporary/part-time) Near Lowell, MA

General Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator or designee, the Research Coordinator II will collaborate with a team of health scientists and research staff with diverse background. As a teammate, he or she will be responsible for independently engaging, recruiting, enrolling, interviewing, measuring and communicating with study participants of the Healthy Aging and Neighborhood Study (HANS). Supported by the National Institute on Aging, HANS is being conducted in multi-ethnic and multi-racial older adult populations in northeastern and central Massachusetts. The Research Coordinator II will serve as a liaison of the study with local communities.

The Research Coordinator II will support research studies on health and well-beings of frail older adults living in communities. S/he will visit participant homes, senior centers and clinical sites, and have frequent face-to-face contacts with vulnerable study participants who may have immunodeficiencies. According to the approved study protocol, the Research Coordinator II is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and seasonal flu.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • 3 years of related experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Prior experience in recruiting and interviewing participants for human studies
  • Knowledge of human subjects protection and having received relevant training
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that are necessary for interacting effectively with study participants and local community organizations, and project team members
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a larger team of researchers and staff with diverse racial/ethnic, cultural background and diverse scientific expertise
  • Proficient in computer and phone conference capability to complete study activities remotely
  • A vehicle and a valid MA Driver's License are required to conduct field work

Additional Considerations:

  • Knowledge of geography and communities in Central and Northeastern Massachusetts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of human subjects protection and related training
  • Experience in working with older adults and aging studies
