🥷 Role

What you will do

As an early software engineer, you will be an integral part of everything engineering, from product development to setting up infrastructure to testing. You will:

• Interface with the founders and stakeholders to get deep product and user need understanding
• Build the core product iteratively to serve our med tech customers
• Own and develop the engineering product and prioritize product needs
• Help set and improve engineering best practices for the company
• Assist with developing core infrastructure including CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling

What you will bring

• Self-starter mentality - at a seed-stage company like Ultralight, you’ll have to wear a lot of hats and move fast in the face of ambiguity
• A deep understanding of the various parts of the engineering lifecycle and modern full-stack web development
• A product-oriented engineering vision - we will be constantly iterating, and the ability to translate user needs to technical requirements will be crucial
• Empathy and dedication to the company’s long term vision
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, verbally and in writing
• Experience with Javascript or Typescript - knowledge of frameworks and libraries such as RedwoodJS, Next.js, React and Express are a big plus

Also, while not required, experience as an engineer at an early stage venture-backed startup is highly desirable.

How We Work

Ultralight has a founder footprint in both Philadelphia and NYC, and this role is expected to have in-person presence in New York several days per week.

Ultralight is committed to building a hybrid culture, and much of our collaboration happens online. We also have a strong bias towards in-person time in order to build camaraderie and a culture of performance and collaboration.

The target compensation for this role is $130,000-$160,000, and 0.3-0.6% equity
