Purpose of the Position:

The Placement Verification Advisor reviews call(s), guides, and supports documentation submitted by the Graduate Success Teams for all graduates who have been placed in a job 15 days after they have graduated and verified 15 days after being employed. The Placement Verification Advisor contacts all placements entered by the Career Service Advisors for the Clearwater Campus and Alumni repeat placements. The Placement Verification Advisor contacts either the graduate or employer to review: the start date, job title, and employer’s name and address, and ask programmatic questions used to create the final job description. The Placement Verification Advisor’s actions include business authentication; ensuring the placement is in the allied health field and locating a job description online to upload into the student’s profile.

The Placement Verification Advisor reports to the Manager or Senior Manager, Placement Verification.

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated starting rate of $19.00 per hour; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

Functional:

  • Ensures that all employers are in the allied health field or a business that supports allied health functions.
  • Completes a Verification Checklist for all confirmations of employment completed by the Graduate Success Team or a Placement Verification Script for the Clearwater graduates/Alumni Repeat placements by contacting the graduate/employer to obtain a verification of employment and running competencies.
  • Pulls transcripts if applicable.
  • Searches for job descriptions online and attach them to the student’s profile, if missing.
  • Assists in Test Competency Queue as assigned by leadership.
  • Works closely with the Graduate Success Team Managers and Coordinators to maintain an open line of communication on their confirmations of employment.
  • Daily review of assigned queues; completing reviews of placements and verifying placements in a timely manner.
  • Answers incoming calls from Career Service team members
  • Achieves daily goals as assigned
  • Meets Quality Assurance goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Compliance:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience in education, placement, career services, or related field
  • Able to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate’s or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in education, career services, employment staffing, out placement services or executive search.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures.
  • Proven track record in professional sales or business development.
  • Committed, with strong follow-up skills.
  • Success in servicing customers in a people-oriented industry.
  • Dynamic, high-energy personality.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport with a diverse customer base.
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented with a can-do attitude.
  • Comfortable working independently or in a team environment.

Working Environment:

  • Office Environment – Must be able to work in the UMA Office
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping and squatting
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
