Job Description

Hours: M-F, 6pm - 2:30am (3rd shift)

Pay: $20 - $23/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain dispatch system accuracy and in live status; ensure work is properly updated and reflected in the TMS.
• Monitor import and/or export container termination status updates from port websites, call centers, and/or steamship lines tools/websites.
• Understand the responsibilities and differences between employee drivers and Owner Operators.
• Understand that Owner Operators can reject workload when offered.
• Have a thorough understanding of Owner Operators contract guidelines.
• Must have a thorough understanding of Logbooks and Hours of Service compliance requirements.
• Know and acknowledge the driver's capabilities to accommodate the routing preference when possible. Dispatching to their preference routes is a priority for driver retention and safety.
• Become assertive and perform a supervising role for the drivers through constant communication.
• Thorough knowledge of all customer account requirements to support drivers when being routed to locations.
• Support Customer Service on advising optimal appointment scheduling at Terminals.
• Supports driver recruitment activities.
• Execute any needed Dispatch reports depending on the defined requirements.
• Support daily capacity forecast analysis with the Operations Manager.
• Maintain continuous and proactive communication with the Dispatch Assistant Manager. Report any issues when applicable.
• Support driver monitoring efforts including Geofence (security routing) feature in Geotab.
• Become proficient, report errors, and may execute tasks/reports on:
• Profit Tools
• Geotab (ELD)
• GeoStamp
• DiscMobile
• Fueling Procedures
• Cameras
• Logbooks
• DOT and Hours of Service (HOS) Compliance
• Accident Procedures
• Yard Security
• Incentive Programs
• Effectively collaborates with the Customer Service team to meet or exceed our customer's expectations.
• Professional and respectful etiquette with drivers and internal/external customers.
• Manages email.
• Attend meetings when required.
• Meet designated KPIs weekly, monthly, and quarterly, according to Company policies.
• Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
