POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Analyst role supports informing critical business decisions at Ulta Beauty. They will support customer experience (CX) measurement, loyalty, and innovation. Initiatives may also include ad-hoc questions from cross-functional teams, including marketing, merchandising, and digital partners.

This position is primarily responsible for the execution of consumer research. This includes analyzing and interpreting data, working in data dashboards, report generation, sample planning, questionnaire development, programming surveys, and interviewing customers. This includes operationalizing guest feedback from Guest Services. To accomplish this task, the Sr. Analyst will work with guidance from the Manager and cross-functional partners to deliver insights that push the business forward.

The Sr. Analyst will also be responsible for drawing from various sources, such as our CX Measurement Platform Medallia, external research, syndicated databases, competitive information sources and other internal resources to develop insights that provide competitive advantages to Ulta Beauty.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • With guidance from the Manager of Consumer Insights, execute qualitative and quantitative ad-hoc research projects, including in-store customer interviews, focus groups.
  • With guidance from the Manager of CX Measurement, pull and analyze data from our CX Measurement Platform, Medallia
  • Support the Manager of CX Measurement as we engage with the external vendor for maintenance and servicing of the CX Measurement Platform
  • Support operationalizing guest feedback from Guest Services
  • Support responding to key business questions in-the-moment
  • Fierce advocacy of data integrity and data security
  • Support Voice of the Customer (VoC) dashboard creation and reporting, with help from the Manager of CX Measurement
  • Designing surveys, interview guides, or other data collection instruments and determining the appropriate sample based on respondent targeting/selection criteria in partnership with Ulta Beauty’s CRM team.
  • Programming and testing surveys using Ulta Beauty’s survey platform
  • Interpreting, analyzing, and storytelling survey results
  • Creating custom reports based on research results
  • Involvement in presenting results to stakeholders, either through a primary role of presenting the story or supporting the discussion.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in business, marketing or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in market research or consumer insights
  • Expertise in understanding different quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
  • Capable of managing project schedules and deadlines that run simultaneously
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills
  • Comfortable interacting with customers in-store
  • Hands on end-to-end survey development experience (i.e., survey design and programming)
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication abilities
  • Able to quickly learn survey software and other tools
  • Experience with or ability to learn SPSS / Q Research
  • Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to build and use tableau

PREFERRED OR SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with CX research methods
  • Experience with Medallia
  • Storytelling approach to writing insights reports
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong analytic skills including ability to analyze complex datasets
  • Strong data visualization skills
