The Assistant Superintendent of Building Maintenance will work in collaboration with the Superintendent of Building Maintenance in the administration of the operations of the College of Dentistry facility and physical plant, including the 14 out-patient dental clinics, administrative and faculty offices, classrooms, student plaster laboratories, loading dock and numerous research facilities for grant-sponsored multi-year projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Assists with the direct supervision of equipment specialists and technicians in repairs and preventive maintenance by determining how many staff is needed and implementing a work schedule.

Responsible for the oversight of the overall repair and preventive maintenance of dental equipment in the College of Dentistry facility.

Serves as liaison to UIC Physical Plant

Performs duties of the Superintendent of Building Maintenance when needed.

Provides direction on major projects, space renovation, and serves as the liaison to contractors.

Assists with the supervising of contractors, equipment specialist and technicians by checking their work for deficiencies and completion of projects.

Provides direction on major space renovation projects including planning best allocation and utilization of space and resources.

Assists with the oversight for infection control in the clinic and distillation of equipment water lines.

Assists with the study of blue prints to determine causes of a system failure and the scope of the contract orders.

Assists with the development of contingency plans for common problems involving clinical and building facilities for implementation by contractors and ensures there is no interruption in services.

Assists with obtaining estimates and is responsible for the management of records and expenses.

Plan, Assign, and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, Train, Develop, and manage staff to ensure that a qualified staff exists to meet group objectives

Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
